Knight's Rest Retreat Inc. is a not for profit, charitable organization under construction! The retreat is the the vision of Craig and Jen Massey with their partners have set out to create a safe place where families dealing with serious or life-threatening illness may come to rest and recharge in the majestic beauty of nature on a working farmstead.
Knights in battle must rest....we provide that place of safety... The name says it all. KNIGHT'S REST!
Ever wonder what it was like to live in medieval times???
Step back in time and sleep in a pavilion like this one.
There are few things in this world that deplete the financial and emotional resources of a family like long-term or life-threatening illness of someone in the family.
While engaged in the battle for the individual's life, all family resources, both emotional and financial are used and often used up. The "healthy" children and family members become "forgotten" in this struggle.
Knight's Rest Retreat Inc. is a peaceful place where visitors can enjoy the beauty of God's natural world expressed in ever changing splendor as each season and each day presents new experiences.
A quiet place of rest where guests can interact with friendly farmstead livestock in the contact area, take a peaceful walk in the woods, stop and sit a while to admire the ancient pecan trees, watch the creatures of the woods, say a word of prayer, or even shed a few tears without fear.
For those seeking more adventure, climb to the observation tower to view the rolling pastures and woodlands from above. Fishing is also available from a floating dock in the farm pond stock with fish where you don't go "fishing" you go CATCHING!!!
Located in the rolling hills of east central Oklahoma, Knight's Rest Retreat feels "lost in the woods" while being only 12 minutes from local hospitals and only 45 minutes of medical facilities in Tulsa and Shawnee.
Currently the land is in use as a WORKING farmstead....as our plans progress, the focus will be switched to more medieval methods and all structures will be constructed as a Medieval village with some modern conveniences. Plans include:
"The Village" will feature many different aspects of life in a medieval village and will be available for medieval re-enactors to use for living history events and fun with a suitable venue for demonstrations of medieval skills such as glass working, weaving, black-smithing, baking, armour making and more.
"The Castle Ruins" will be our primary housing for visiting families. Designed to give a very safe secure courtyard where all can gather around the nightly campfire for medieval barding stories and songs.
